Processing
Processing Motion Picture (Cine) Film
The film stock we sell at Forever Film Co is motion picture film. The difference with motion picture film compared to other consumer film stock is that it contains remjet.
What is remjet?
Remjet is a carbon-based layer coated on the back of motion picture film to prevent halation, which is a phenomenon where light bounces off the back of the film during exposure, causing unwanted reflections and reducing image clarity. Remjet acts as an anti-halation layer, absorbing light that passes through the film, thereby preventing it from reflecting back onto the film emulsion.
The remjet layer needs to be removed during film processing before the film can be scanned, printed, or viewed. This is done using a specialised process as part of the film development workflow. Once the remjet is removed, the film is ready for further processing or viewing.
For this reason you cannot take your exposed motion picture film to any film lab for processing, they won't know what to do with it, and worst case you'll end up losing an entire roll of precious frames.
